Good job Xel on getting this episode edited and posted so quickly. I don’t often get to enjoy Biomass on a Tuesday… unless it was a really busy week and I am catching up on the one from the previous week.
We might have a little mid-week surprise too! Stay tuned.
Here in Halifax a corner store owner opened a VR arcade with a single VR unit in the back of his store. I saw it on the news. It is the cheapest, half-assed arcade setup you could ever imagine, behind a curtain and surrounded by mettle store shelves. I guess once you put the head set on, it does not matter how sketchy the place looks… but still, I am surprised we have not seen more professional VR arcades yet.
Speaking of CRU spawning in DUST, have any of you taken a look at the “tethering” thread on the Dust forum? Thread subject is: “I just had an EVE-inspired idea for spawning…” by Mobius Wyvern
Also, I like the idea of the proximity to a friendly CRU controlling how fast you spawn on an uplink. I had read somewhere on the forum last week someone mentioning in passing that they had heard this idea, so maybe it originated with Pokey. I am not sure.
Anyway, I like Uplinks, so I don’t fall into the camp of people who want to get rid of them, but tying them to a CRU seems like it would solve some problems and add a fun dynamic to the game. It would make the CRU much more important as a secondary objective. If Defenders could also spawn at an objective you would get a really intense battle once the attackers take the CRU and both sides can spawn quickly in close proximity until either the attackers take the objective or the defenders take back the CRU.
For Orbitals, and similar squad leader commands, I would like to see every player at the start of the match bring a number of War Points and a squad leader has access to the sum of the remaining WP of his/her squad members. Orbitals of various sizes and other commands have different costs. It would be a finite number of WP so it would be a strategic decision of when to use them, rather than just trying to get extra kills at the end of the match as in DUST. It also gives less skilled players a way to use better tactics to tip the match in their favor, rather than giving skilled shooters even more of an advantage as in DUST. (I would distribute the points according to a player’s position in the roster so if a player leaves and a new player joins, the new player inherits the WP for that roster slot.)
