  1. My wife is 10 years older than me, so I am not bothered so much by the respective age difference of the actors, but Passengers might have had a more interesting dynamic if they had cast Helen Mirren as the love interest. Now she is sexy!

    • My biggest issue is really just the inherent sexism in Hollywood casting. For the female actor, your career essentially ends at age 30. Yet Chris Pratt didn’t even hit his little superstardom streak until 30, and Robert Downey Jr. is now… over 50, and a superhero? There are amazing female actresses who can barely find work these days simply because they’re over the age of 30.

Obviously where people consider age differences “weird” is extremely subjective, but 10 years isn’t that unusual. Maybe once you start talking about those 46-year age differences, like Dick Van Dyke, that it’s a little odd.

  2. I liked JJ A’s Star Trek movies. I rented them about 5 times each. But then the only Star Trek show since the original series that was even close to gritty enough for my tastes was Deep Space 9. I like the alternate history they have going now, and they managed to find the one actor of this generation who could do justice to the Spock character.
