CPM Candidate Interview: Void Echo

Biomassed: Who are you? Who do you play DUST 514 with, and what style of play do you enjoy?

Void Echo: I’m Void Echo. I usually go with whatever squads have mics in the squad finder. I am skilled in assault, logistics and heavy classes but my favorite is the assault class.

Biomassed: Tell us a bit about the “real you”. Who is the man (or woman) behind the merc?

Void Echo: My name is Doniken Solis, I’m from Texas, 20 years old, but I have a lot more experience with life than anyone my age, I’m a survivor of domestic and child abuse but I use that as my drive to make my life the way I want it.

Biomassed: Why did you decide to run for the CPM this year?

Void Echo: With the way things are going, I don’t think DUST will be on the PS3 when the next CPM election takes place, and there’s a high chance that it will be on PC by the time it happens, so I’m running now because it might be the only time I can.

Biomassed: What are the strengths you think you can bring to the CPM? What is your biggest weakness you’ll need to contend with?

Void Echo: I am an observer and thinker, I see the problems and I can think of several ways to fix them, I think the CPM needs a fresh perspective on some of the problems that are in this game and needs new ideas on how to fix them. The biggest challenge I need to overcome is my tendency to anger when I’m not taken seriously, I will do what I need to do to improve this game.

Biomassed: What do you feel is the role of the CPM?

Void Echo: It’s the direct bridge between CCP and the community. CCP gives the CPM a set of ideas or new progressions that are not ready to be made public and the CPM responds accordingly with criticism, improvements and ideas that will enhance the original. The CPM also advises what to do regarding the DUST 514 player base.

Biomassed: How do you feel about the previous CPM? What was done well, and what could have been done better?

Void Echo: I really can’t say, I was literally in hiding during the last year when it all happened, but I can definitely say that when I came back, there were major improvements to the game as a whole, whatever they did, they did it right.

Biomassed: What are your thoughts on communication between the players and CCP? The CPM and CCP? The CPM and the players?

Void Echo: I’ve seen Rattati on the forums often talking and joking with the players, as well as giving serious updates, that needs to continue. Again, I’m not aware of how much communication goes between CCP and the CPM but apparently it’s quite effective. I don’t really see anyone from the CPM communicating on the forums, every now and then I’ll see someone with the CPM tag, there could be some improvements made there.

Biomassed: Where do you hope to see the game by the end of your term?

Void Echo: Where it should’ve been all these years, as one of the top PlayStation-exclusive MMOFPS games.

Biomassed: If DUST is able to be ported to another platform, which platform would you prefer, and why?

Void Echo: I know many people want to see it on the PC because of limitations on consoles but I personally want it on the PS4. It’s my personal view that FPS games belong on consoles, better controls, IMO. Plus I’m not going to shell out $2,650 for a gaming PC that needs to be upgraded constantly when I can spend $350 once for a console and not have to worry about improving it.

Biomassed: How can players reach out to you if they have further questions for you?

Void Echo: They can email me at donikensolis (at) gmail.com and in game through Void Echo.
