CCP recently announced that player trading will be coming to DUST 514. This has been a hotly anticipated feature and should be rolling out later this month. The development team wanted to deliver even simple trading as soon as possible, even if the intention is to provide a more robust system in the future.
This will be a trust-based system in which players will send an item and the receiving party (hopefully) will send payment in return. With the obvious threat of scamming in this style of system, players are already beginning to set up trading boards and third-party escrow services to assist other players in making safer trades. We will be covering those services in further detail once the trading system rolls out.
Tradeable items will include Officer, Experimental, Faction Warfare, and any ISK purchased gear for this initial stage. CCP intends to expand the list of tradeable items to include items such as AUR gear, boosters, and BPOs once they are certain that no exploits exist in the system. Once that is implemented, it will effectively allow players to obtain AUR purchased items from other players without having to spend real world currency, much like the PLEX system in EVE Online.
In the above screenshot, it can be seen that trades have an attached Trade Fee associated with them which seems to be approximately 10% of the value of the items being transferred. UPDATE: CCP Rattati has confirmed that the shown 10% trade fee was simply for testing purposes and that the actual fee is “much lower than 10%” but they have not decided on a final value yet. In order to prevent any farming an exploitative behavior, players will need to achieve Loyalty Rank 4 before they will be able to use the trading system. Loyalty ranks can be earned through various actions such as logging into the game, fighting in battles, earning War Points, and spending AUR in-game.
