Biomassed is a community-inclusive media entity covering games and movies of some peripheral interest to players of the former DUST 514 and upcoming Project Nova from CCP. We aim to remain neutral and unbiased in any in-game or out-of-game political matters, and are not currently seeking any exclusive arrangements or partnerships.
While currently our primary focus is on the upcoming Project Nova, Biomassed has a multi-faceted interest in other games and communities and is looking to produce and promote content related to other games as well. We want to support community in general, as a rising tide lifts all boats. Biomassed acts as a platform to support and encourage the creation and distribution of content to enhance community and player engagement. Participants gain publicity and name recognition through non-exclusive contributions to Biomassed, and as such we offer limited promotional opportunity in line with active content creation for Biomassed.
We currently produce content through three primary distribution channels:
Blog
Our blog is our landing page for all things Biomassed, and we’re actively interested in having community writers to write news articles, reviews, guides, and editorials. This is the easiest place for a contributor to break into being a part of Biomassed. While often our editors’ time has restricted us to covering Project Nova and other CCP titles exclusively, we’re open to articles about other games that our readers and listeners may be interested in trying, as long as it fits within the general realm of Biomassed and our media coverage.
We permit community members the ability to log into our blog site and write draft articles, which they can then submit to an editor for approval. We maintain standards for article quality, topic, and format, and maintain an “editor’s bible” which defines some of our blog expectations. Blog authors can refer to the organizations they are involved with (within reason), but the core content produced must be valuable to the average Biomassed reader. As an example, a “[specific corporation]’s guide to dropsuit fitting” would be a valuable article which also promotes that corporation, but an explicit recruitment article for that corporation would not.
Podcast
Currently we run a single weekly podcast (recording 51 episodes per year) covering general gaming and movie topics, with occasional deep dives on Project Nova or other gaming topics of interest. We are extremely open to guests on our show, and both welcome their input on our weekly topics as well as anything they would like to bring forward. Our show format allows for a brief introduction (<1 minute) for each participant at the start of the show and a relatively brief shout-out or shameless plug (<3 minutes) at the end of the show which is a good time to promote things guests are doing or would like the listeners to check out. We often will share a link to a shout-out in our show notes on the blog if it is helpful.
Many weeks we do not have guests, and we may take a relatively open position on guests jumping in with short notice. However, at times interest in being on our show is high, and we may schedule or restrict guests as needed to ensure a quality show format. We also may ask you to confirm your audio quality before the show, and choose not to have a guest on the show if their audio quality is unacceptable. We also, of course, reserve the right to decline a guest at any time for any reason.
YouTube
Our YouTube channel is a carefully curated video production that takes significant production time. Currently, we are not soliciting community contribution to our YouTube channel, though we may invite individuals to participate in specific productions should an opportunity arise.
